Europa visits Taming of the Shrew

Thursday August 7th was a fabulous day to visit Dartmouth, especially if you can do it in style. Europa she made an impressive sight for all attending the The Taming of the Shrew.

More photos of Europa are available in the Incidentals collection from 2014 Dartmouth Shakespeare Week.

Seafarers UK

In aid of Seafarers UK

One of the many things I love about Dartmouth is the general feel of the place. Even when there’s nothing much going on. When there’s an event the feel always seems to be friendly, relaxed. The views are to die for, there’s so much to look at. This collection of photos shows the general background to the Shanty Festival. Included are shots of Kingswear Castle. The last, steam driven, paddle steamer operating regular service in tidal waters, Fairmile, a restored RAF Air Sea Rescue boat from WWII, she also runs regular trips, and last but not least a procession of classic craft in the Dart.

Exmouth Shanty Men

Mariners away

Loved the team strip

Just posted photos of the Exmouth Shanty men. While lurking around the band stand I couldn’t help noticing other Shanty groups mixed in with the audience in The Royal Avenue Gardens. Whether they were sizing up the opposition or just enjoying the ambience (and the marvellous summer day) is something I’ll never know. Featured here Mariners Away, sorry guys but we never got to hear you; lunch at The Ship Inn Kingswear prevented that.
